Driven by a strong vocal presence and melodic guitar riffs and brought together with intense bass undertones and driving rhythmic patterns producing a sound that you aren't likely to forget.(kāj) is a four member high-energy, modern rock band hailing from the Alle-Kiski Valley of Western Pennsylvania. The band was formed in late 2001 by current members Curt Costanzo (Ford City, PA), Eric “Big E” Anthony (Kittanning, PA), former vocalist Brian Shaffer (Kittanning, PA), and former Bassist Eric Binner (Natrona Heights, PA) in hopes of creating an original musical juggernaut, fueled by raw emotion and built on rock solid experience and talent. The current line-up includes Bob Pratt (Vandergrift, PA) on Bass Guitar, Wally Wright (Adrian, PA) on vocals, Curt Costanzo on lead guitar and vocals, & Eric "Big E" Anthony on drums and vocals. The artists site their influences as ranging from present day rockers: Alice In Chains, Dream Theater, Incubus, Nirvana, Staind, Stone Temple Pilots and Tool, as well as roots grounded in such bands as Black Sabbath, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, KISS, Led Zeppelin, Rush and others. The four horsemen boast their experience and diverse backgrounds through their prior engagements in such bands as: Gibraltar, Timeless Flight, Cheap Seats, The Web, Fly, Intolerance, Bi-Polar, Step 11, Black Ops, and Rockabilly Junction. The music of (kāj) is a sound that takes you back to the early days of rock, but fused with modern rock melodies and lyrics that instantly connect with their listeners. (kāj) is currently getting great response to their second cd, released on March 14, 2005, entitled “Bombs”, engineered and produced by Chris Lohr of “The Yards” at Lohrs Productions in Pittsburgh, PA, mastered by Rob Garrison at “Sight and Sound FX” in San Antonio, TX. “Bombs” debuted at #1 on the Top Requested charts at www.indiebandradio.com, an online radio station devoted to up and coming unsigned artists all over the world, quickly becoming the largest and most popular unsigned streaming music site on the internet. The song “Stranded” topped the “Most Requested” charts for 9 months straight. The release party of their CD “Bombs” was broadcasted all over the world, via the internet on indiebandradio.com, reaching millions of people, reaching out to young and old, creating an ever-expanding fanbase. Along with internet radio airplay, (kāj) has received airplay on numerous terrestrial and satellite radio stations all over the United States. In April, 2005 (kaj) was featured on XM Satellite Radio - Channel 52 Radio Unsigned's “RADAR REPORT”, featuring the 12 most notable unsigned acts in the nation. As a result, (kāj) was a regular feature on XM's Channel 52. Just recently in February, 2006 (kāj) was showcased on Sirius Satellite Radio - Sirius Stars, Channel 103 on Adam Curry's (formerly of MTV fame) show "Podcast Rewind", highlighting some of the best music from a number of popular podcasters. Through hard work, perseverance, and fan support (kāj) has turned into the musical whirlwind that you hear today.
